Mr. Wilson's class did a circuit lab this week and the kids lit up the classroom for their energy unit.

Mrs. Weekley & Mrs. Morris' 1st Grade class celebrated International Dot Day on Tuesday, Sept. 15th. This day is special because it is a global celebration of creativity inspired by the book "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds. Superintendent Highley read the book to students as a special suprise.

Mrs. Lantz & Mrs. Kelley's Kindergarten class had some special guests read to them. Officer Bordenkircher & Dispatcher Lantz read "Otto's Tales: Today is September 11th". Students were able to learn about Officer Bordenkircher's cruiser & equipment, also.

Ms. Brown & Grandma Millie's 4th Grade class celebrated Constitution Day by participating in a Readers Theatre and Preamble.

Mr. Wilson's 4th Grade class gave election speeches in honor of Constitution Day. They did an amazing job!

Farm to School Spotlight: Fresh, Local Figs!

A big thank you to Jon and Lisa DuMars of The Garden Path for providing delicious, locally grown Tyler County fresh figs for students at Sistersville Elementary to try through the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program!

Trying new foods is a fun part of learning where our food comes from, and our students got to experience a true taste of local agriculture right here in Tyler County!

And the fig fun isn’t over yet! More locally grown figs will be coming in the future for the kids at AIB Elementary to try.

Farm to School is all about bringing fresh, local food straight from our community to students’ plates!

Tyler FFA students are getting their hands dirty shucking fresh sweet corn from Middle Island Meadows, which school cooks prepared and served to students during lunch.

It’s a great example of agriculture education, student involvement, and local food coming together!

Mrs. Billiter & Mrs. Hayes' class completed a science project where students had to build a shelter using specific materials to save "Fred D. Worm" from a sudden storm.

Staying on top of your child's attendance just got a lot easier.

Starting August 31, 2026, all Tyler County Schools will be using a new text-based system to keep you informed when your child is absent — and to make it simple for you to respond, ask questions, and share notes, all without a phone call.

Here's what's new:
• You'll receive a text when your child is absent. A message will come from the phone number listed below next to your child’s school — save this number in your contacts so you never miss it.
• You can text back directly. Reply to confirm an absence, share the reason, or ask a question. It's that simple.
• You can send photos of notes by text. Need to submit a parent note or a doctor's note? Just take a photo and text it to the same number — no need to drop anything off at the office.
• You can proactively text us. Know that your child will be absent? Send us a text to the number listed below next to your child’s school and we’ll update the record accordingly.

The texts are powered by our AI attendance assistant, every response goes directly to our attendance team, and your child's record is updated accordingly.

The staff at Sistersville Elementary School is proud to announce Hannah Roberts, fifth-grade teacher, as the Squires Teacher of the Year, and Natasha Morris, first-grade instructional aide, as the Squires Service Personnel of the Year. Their dedication, positive attitude, professionalism, and commitment to our students make them truly deserving of these honors.

Natasha Morris was also named as the Tyler County Schools Service Personnel of the Year!!!
