Prior to the snow storm, 11th grade ELA students finished their poetry unit by creating poetry graffiti and the world's longest poem!
Mrs. Grimes had her students put their creative and thinking minds to work by having students work in groups while utilizing the skills they mastered in the unit to complete these projects.
Great work!

TCHS students recently returned from an unforgettable field trip to Washington, DC—a hands-on learning experience that brought history, civics, and culture to life. Throughout the trip, students learned how to navigate public transportation using the DC Metro, building real-world independence while traveling across the city. Exiting the Metro for the first time, the students witnessed a peaceful protest— a right guaranteed by the First Amendment. Over the course of 4 days, they explored iconic sites including the U.S. Botanic Garden, Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, National Archives, Library of Congress, U.S. Capitol, Holocaust Memorial Museum, Natural History Museum, American History Museum, the National Gallery of Art, and many of DC’s powerful memorials—especially memorable during our nighttime memorial walk. While they did not tour the Supreme Court, students witnessed history in action as they observed a protest outside the Court on the day it heard a case originating from our home state. This unexpected moment sparked meaningful discussions about civic engagement and the judicial process. Beyond museums and monuments, students also enjoyed trying a variety of foods across the city, adding cultural exploration to their experience. Overall, the trip was an incredible opportunity for learning, growth, and connection—both to our nation’s history and to the world beyond the classroom. A huge thank you to Ms. Byard for making this possible! #KnightsPride
